Terms of Use

Last updated: 4 May 2026

These are the terms that apply when you use Dose. They're written in plain English. They cover what you can do, what we can do, and what happens if either of us gets it wrong. If you don't agree with them, please don't use Dose — and we'll be sorry to see you go.

1. Who runs Dose

Dose is built and operated by NJ Samari, based in Manchester, United Kingdom. Throughout these terms "we", "us", and "our" mean Dose; "you" and "your" mean you, the person using it.

These terms apply to the Dose mobile app, the website at dosecoffee.app, and any related services we run. By creating an account or using Dose in any way, you're agreeing to these terms and to our Privacy Notice.

2. Your account

To use Dose you need an account. You can create one with an email address and password, or by signing in with Google. We try to keep this simple.

A few ground rules:

3. Content you post

When you write a review, upload a photo, leave a comment, or otherwise post something on Dose, that content stays yours. You own it. We never claim ownership of your reviews or photos.

That said, we need a basic licence from you to be able to show your content inside the app. Specifically: by posting public content on Dose, you grant us a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, store, display, reproduce, and adapt it solely for the purpose of operating Dose. This licence ends when you delete the content (or delete your account), with the small caveat that backup copies may persist for up to 90 days before being permanently erased.

What you can and can't post

You agree not to post content that:

We can remove content that breaks these rules. We may also suspend or remove accounts that repeatedly break them. We'll try to be fair about it.

4. How we expect you to behave

Dose works because the community treats each other well. Coffee opinions are personal — people will disagree about beans, ratios, methods. That's fine and good. Disrespect, harassment, and bad-faith engagement aren't fine.

You agree not to:

5. Our content and brand

The Dose name, logo, app design, illustrations, and the look and feel of the service are ours. You can talk about Dose, write about it, link to it, and screenshot it for personal or editorial use. You can't copy our brand or claim affiliation with us without our permission.

6. Changes to Dose

Dose is a young product and it will keep changing. We may add features, remove features, change how things work, and try things that don't work and roll them back. We'll try to communicate big changes clearly, and we won't remove access to your own data without giving you a way to export it first.

7. Ending your account

You can delete your Dose account at any time from within the app. Deleting your account removes your profile, reviews, photos, follows, likes, and comments, usually within 30 days. Some backup copies may exist for up to 90 days before being fully erased, in line with our Privacy Notice.

We can suspend or terminate accounts that break these terms, or where we reasonably believe doing so is necessary to protect Dose, other users, or our legal obligations. We'll generally tell you why, unless we believe doing so would cause further harm.

8. Disclaimers and warranties

Dose is provided "as is" and "as available". We try hard to make it work well, but we don't guarantee that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it'll meet every expectation you have. We don't warrant the accuracy of user-generated content — reviews on Dose reflect the opinions of the people writing them, not facts about coffee.

To the extent allowed by UK law, we exclude all implied warranties. This doesn't affect your statutory rights as a consumer if you're in the UK or EU.

9. Limits of our liability

To the extent the law allows: we're not liable for loss of profit, loss of business, loss of data, or any indirect or consequential losses arising from your use of Dose. Our total liability for any claim arising from these terms or your use of Dose is capped at the greater of (a) £100, or (b) the amount you have paid us in the 12 months before the claim arose.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, fraud, or anything else that can't lawfully be limited.

10. Disputes and governing law

These terms and any dispute arising from your use of Dose are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes will be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales — except that if you're a consumer in the EU, you may also have the right to bring proceedings in the country where you live.

If you have a problem with Dose, please write to us first at admin@dosecoffee.app. We'd much rather sort it out directly than go anywhere near a court.

11. Updates to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll let you know in the app and update the "last updated" date above. Continuing to use Dose after the change means you accept the new version. If you don't accept a change, you can stop using Dose and delete your account.
